project overview

Set on 50 acres, the client desired to create a rustic, rooted, yet refined home that felt grounded and approachable—a place to raise a growing family, connect with nature, and build lasting memories. In addition, they dreamed of a barn space for recreation, sports, and larger-scale entertaining.

AMDG helped develop a vision that incorporated these dreams into a comprehensive estate master plan, including a lodge-inspired design featuring a broad-spreading roof and deep overhangs, communicating a sense of shelter and welcome. The home embraces the landscape with a foundation of Tolleson blend stone carefully selected during a collaborative trip to Colorado, as well as structural brackets and columns detailed in laminated mahogany. The interior extends this stone and wood palette, creating a warm, substantial atmosphere accentuated by custom lighting and hand-forged metalwork.

Designed with intentionality, the second story, while visually understated from the exterior, houses spacious, amenity-rich bedrooms, offering the family a retreat to recharge and reconnect. On the main level, a sunroom near the kitchen and craft room serve as a cozy getaway, perfect for quiet moments while staying connected to family life. Thoughtful sightlines and access to the outdoor patio highlight the home’s seamless connection to the environment, reinforcing the family’s deep appreciation for nature. Technology is embedded and strategically concealed within thoughtful interior detailing – out of sight and out of mind until it’s needed.

This home is more than a structure—it is a true homestead. With two barns and intentional design rooted in practicality over pretense, it embodies the family’s values and aspirations, creating a comfortable sanctuary.
