As part of a broader estate master planning effort, AMDG designed a luxury recreational building that honors both hospitality and privacy. The homeowners sought to create a space where family, friends, and guests could gather for small or large events while preserving the serenity and privacy of the main home.
The structure, which echoes the agrarian vernacular of the region, was thoughtfully placed on the site to be out-of-view from the main home, yet easy to access. Exterior patios and living spaces transition to outdoor amenities, including a firepit, paddle tennis and an expansive lawn. A nearby pond adds a layer of recreation and reflection—all framed by the natural beauty of the site.
Balancing residential warmth and scale with more intensive functionality presented unique challenges. AMDG and design partners successfully integrated concealed, intuitive technology throughout; lighting and climate and snowmelt systems are comprehensively coordinated. Entertainment systems and technology remain concealed until summoned. The aquatic systems, engineered to coexist with residential finishes, required technical precision and creative problem-solving for both mechanical systems and building envelope. Careful grading and siting ensured the new pond complemented the estate’s visual and ecological rhythm, offering moments of stillness amidst the dynamic amenities.
Constructed by Mike Schaap Builders, with interiors by Via Design, and residential technology integration by Bekins, the project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration. Drawing on a foundation of mutual trust and past experience, the team created a gathering space where family memories, community events, and quiet moments can unfold seamlessly. Recognized with a prestigious CEDIA award for home technology integration, the estate’s venue embodies AMDG’s commitment to client-centered, mission-driven design, offering an inspired solution that remains comfortable, familiar and effective across a wide ranging scale of gatherings and events.
