revitalizing learning spaces

This 28,000 SF renovation and addition transformed an aging high school into a modern learning environment that aligns with the school’s goal to give students the tools and environments to learn, build Christ-centered relationships, and thrive. The team focused on designing a central connection between classrooms and circulation spaces, reimagining them to enhance learning, foster community, and improve student flow. The project also introduced an updated student union featuring a coffee bar, providing a welcoming space for fellowship and collaboration. Additionally, the renovation brought much-needed air conditioning to classrooms and consolidated administrative offices to enhance operational efficiency.

The existing building had undergone several expansions over the decades, creating a complex layout that was difficult to navigate. AMDG collaborated closely with local jurisdictions to address zoning and code requirements, resulting in a smooth process throughout the project duration.

The design updated classroom layouts and hallways to meet the needs of today’s students, educators, and staff. The addition of flexible furnishings and technology-enabled spaces further enhanced the school’s adaptability, creating learning environments that support diverse teaching methods.

From the outset, AMDG worked closely with Timothy Christian School stakeholders, the construction manager, and multiple consultants—ranging from civil engineering to food service design experts—to ensure the project delivered excellence and remained within budget. The client’s vision of fostering school community and invite flexible learning was realized through a built environment that prioritizes fellowship, clearly defined and safe entrances, and adaptable classrooms that reflect the Timothy Christian School brand and mission.

What sets AMDG apart from other firms is timely response, every idea from a client is worthy of discussion, the discovery of how physical space impacts learning, and their unique ability to present to donors.
