a vision for healing and growth
Dr. Lovell and his team envisioned a facility that would elevate patient care and solidify their brand as a top-tier orthopedic practice. AMDG Architects helped transform this vision into the Lovell Hand and Orthopedic Center, a 9,142-square-foot suite located in the prestigious New Vista medical office building along Grand Rapids’ East Paris Medical Corridor.
Strategically designed with flexibility and efficiency in mind, the center incorporates lean design principles to optimize flow between patients, staff, and medical equipment. The suite includes a surgical suite, clinical rooms, and therapy spaces. A welcoming lobby greets patients with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook a tranquil pond, setting a tone of calm professionalism. Staff amenities, such as a well-appointed break room with an outdoor deck and separate entrance with locker room, further enhance the workplace environment. The healthcare suite design also includes room for future expansion and growth, ensuring the center’s longevity as a hub for advanced care.
The design addressed the challenge of a long and potentially overwhelming hallway by integrating a graceful arch, subtly breaking up the space and making navigation intuitive for patients and staff. Working with an aggressive project timeline, the team delivered a space within budget that reflects the precision and care associated with Dr. Lovell’s medical expertise.
From initial concept to final construction, AMDG collaborated closely with First Companies, Kathryn Chaplow Interior Design, and Dr. Lovell’s team. This partnership ensured that every detail, from schematic planning to finish selection, aligned with the client’s vision for a space that prioritizes both patient care and operational efficiency.
The Lovell Hand and Orthopedic Center exemplifies AMDG’s mission-driven design approach. By blending innovation, artistry, and a deep understanding of the client’s goals, the team created a space that fosters healing, collaboration, and growth—both for patients and staff.
