a mission-centered transformation
AMDG served Hand2Hand as design partner to reimagine a former grocery store into a dynamic nonprofit headquarters and operations center. The transformation required a thoughtful facelift to the entire building, adding new windows, updated access points, and refreshed restrooms, making the space functional and welcoming. Bold colors, thoughtful graphics, and open areas embody Hand2Hand’s value for people—staff, volunteers, and those they serve.
Before this project, Hand2Hand had shared space but no home to truly call their own. This headquarters enables them to take their mission to the next level as they provide food for children at local schools and churches. Streamlined layouts place storage for donations near the area where volunteers fill backpacks, maximizing efficiency. The spacious training / fulfillment room, office, and break area cultivate collaboration, creativity, and inspiration. The large warehouse space was designed with efficient storage, better workflow, and convenient interface with other functions.
Tight budgets demanded ingenuity. To create warmth and comfort while staying on track, AMDG facilitated partnerships, such as sourcing donated furniture through a local church. These solutions allowed Hand2Hand to realize their vision for a joyful, purpose-filled space without compromising the experience or jeopardizing the budget.
From start to finish, AMDG’s workplace architects and interior design team drew upon their experience while working alongside the trusted and talented team at First Companies to deliver a space worthy of Hand2Hand’s vision and mission. Through intentional conversations and full-spectrum collaboration, the redesigned building now tells their story. It’s a hub for administration, training, and connection—a place that reflects both the heart of Hand2Hand’s work and the community it serves.
Hand2Hand’s headquarters is more than a building—it’s a testament to collaboration and hope. A place where backpacks are filled, volunteers gather, and children’s lives are changed.
