crafting sacred simplicity
AMDG Architects partnered with Good Shepherd Lutheran church’s leadership and project committee to deliver new worship space, administrative offices, and fellowship space to meet the church’s spiritual and fellowship needs while managing project scope to the constrained budget of a small congregation. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church exemplifies the intersection of thoughtful design, strategic collaboration, and strategic stewardship of resources.
By adapting a denominational prototype, the design was tailored to the congregation’s specific needs. The result is a building that balances simplicity with purpose.
Faced with the challenge of a limited budget, AMDG worked collaboratively with GDK, the construction manager, to lead and guide the client through a listening and design process that allowed them to prioritize the allocation of their resources. Early and consistent dialogue ensured every dollar was used effectively for both the building and sitework.
The project’s success lies in its client-centered design approach, creative problem solving, open and regular communication, and strategic economy of means to achieve a warm and welcoming environment that supports their desire to worship with joy, embrace with love, and equip for witness and service.
