design rooted in mission and functionality
Located on the scenic shores of Lake Michigan, the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds (CRCG) Worship Center reflects the client’s mission to provide facilities that promote spiritual welfare, physical health, and family togetherness. Designed with the input of CRCG board members and GDK Construction, the Worship Center is a dynamic space that accommodates worship, fellowship, and multi-generational recreation.
The new Worship Center is a versatile, multi-use facility that balances functionality and aesthetics. At its core, the building includes a large worship area with state-of-the-art audio/visual and lighting systems, a welcoming stage, and meeting spaces for programming and crafts. The design incorporated windows and overhead doors to create a connection to the natural beauty surrounding the grounds.
AMDG worked closely with CRCG’s representatives to fully understand their aspirations and programming needs for the facility. Guided by their mission, our design team facilitated
visioning and benchmarking sessions that informed the layout, materials, and aesthetics. GDK Construction joined the project early, providing cost analysis and insights that helped align the design with CRCG’s budget and timeline. Together, the team created a space that achieves CRCG’s goals and exceeds practical needs for durability, flexibility, and functionality.
With a tight construction schedule between Labor Day and Memorial Day, AMDG and the team worked efficiently to deliver the Worship Center in time for the camp’s operating season. Budget stewardship was critical, requiring thoughtful decision-making and teamwork to maintain quality without exceeding financial parameters.
The CRCG Worship Center embodies the ministry’s mission to provide an atmosphere of spiritual renewal and Christian fellowship. Designed to host worship services, family-friendly programming, and retreats, the building serves as a beacon of community and faith.
